Detects when a repository or an organization is being transferred to another location.
This analytic identifies the modification of the SourceAnchor (ImmutableId) attribute for an Azure Active Directory user. This detection leverages Azure AD audit logs, specifically monitoring the "Update user" operation and changes to the SourceAnchor attribute. This activity is significant as it is a step in setting up an Azure AD identity federation backdoor, allowing an adversary to establish persistence. If confirmed malicious, the attacker could impersonate any user, bypassing password and MFA requirements, leading to unauthorized access and potential data breaches.
This analytic detects the addition of a new federated domain within an Azure Active Directory tenant. It identifies successful "Set domain authentication" operations in Azure AD AuditLogs. This activity is significant as it may indicate the use of the Azure AD identity federation backdoor technique, allowing an adversary to establish persistence. If confirmed malicious, the attacker could impersonate any user, bypassing password and MFA requirements, potentially leading to unauthorized access and control over the Azure AD environment.
Detects the creation of nsswitch.conf files in non-standard directories, which may indicate exploitation of CVE-2025-32463. This vulnerability requires an attacker to create a nsswitch.conf in a directory that will be used during sudo chroot operations. When sudo executes, it loads malicious shared libraries from user-controlled locations within the chroot environment, potentially leading to arbitrary code execution and privilege escalation.
This analytic detects potential exploitation of the Ivanti Virtual Traffic Manager (vTM) authentication bypass vulnerability (CVE-2024-7593) to create new administrator accounts. The vulnerability allows unauthenticated remote attackers to bypass authentication on the admin panel and create new admin users. This detection looks for suspicious new account creation events in the Ivanti vTM audit logs that lack expected authentication details, which may indicate exploitation attempts.
Detects M365 Copilot access from non-compliant or unmanaged devices that violate corporate security policies, indicating potential shadow IT usage, BYOD policy violations, or compromised endpoint access. The detection filters M365 Copilot Graph API events where deviceDetail.isCompliant=false or deviceDetail.isManaged=false, then aggregates by user, operating system, and browser to calculate metrics including event counts, unique IPs and locations, and compliance/management status over time. Users accessing Copilot from non-compliant or unmanaged devices are flagged and sorted by activity volume and geographic spread, enabling security teams to identify unauthorized endpoints that may lack proper security controls, encryption, or MDM enrollment.
Detect when a user creates a new Discretionary Access Control List (DACL) in Active Directory for their own AD object. This can be an indicator of an adversary attempting to maintain persistence or escalate privileges by modifying permissions on their own account to grant themselves additional rights or to prevent other users from modifying their account.
Detects activity when someone is changing passwords on behalf of other users.
An attacker with the "iam:UpdateLoginProfile" permission on other users can change the password used to login to the AWS console on any user that already has a login profile setup.

Windows DCE-RPC functions which indicate an execution techniques on the remote system. All credit for the Zeek mapping of the suspicious endpoint/operation field goes to MITRE
Detects activity when a member is added to a security-enabled global group
Detects service installation of different remote access tools software. These software are often abused by threat actors to perform
Detects the creation or update of an Azure Sentinel analytics rule. This can indicate administrative activity related to security monitoring configuration. Monitoring these changes is crucial for detecting potential tampering with detection capabilities or the introduction of malicious rules.
Detects when a user is removed from a privileged role. Bulk changes should be investigated.
Detect attempt to enable auditing of TTY input

Detects a service installed by a client which has PID 0 or whose parent has PID 0
Detects potential attempts made to set the Directory Services Restore Mode administrator password.
The Directory Service Restore Mode (DSRM) account is a local administrator account on Domain Controllers.
Attackers may change the password in order to obtain persistence.

Detects potential exploitation of CVE-2025-41244, a local privilege escalation vulnerability in VMware Tools and Aria Operations.
An attacker can stage a malicious binary in a world-writable directory (e.g., /tmp) which is then executed with root privileges by the VMware service discovery mechanism when it attempts to determine the binary's version.

Detects the use of the EnableRegion command in AWS CloudTrail logs.
While AWS has 30+ regions, some of them are enabled by default, others must be explicitly enabled in each account separately.
There may be situations where security monitoring does not cover some new AWS regions.
Monitoring the EnableRegion command is important for identifying potential persistence mechanisms employed by adversaries, as enabling additional regions can facilitate continued access and operations within an AWS environment.

This rule identifies Cisco network devices within Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE) telemetry that are running Cisco IOS or Cisco XE operating systems, excluding version '17.15.4a'. The exclusion of a specific OS version suggests the rule is designed to pinpoint devices that may be vulnerable to a known security flaw, potentially CVE-2025-20352 as indicated by the rule's title. It helps in mapping exposure to specific vulnerabilities by identifying potentially unpatched or vulnerable network infrastructure components.
