Detects instances where a web browser accesses a domain listed in the 'AdFection_Domains' watchlist, followed closely by the browser spawning a script interpreter (such as PowerShell, wscript, cscript, mshta) or dropping an executable/script file in user profile or temporary directories.
Detects rundll32.exe executing inline JavaScript/VBScript via the
mshtml RunHTMLApplication export or a script payload staged in user-writable
directories. ClickFix chains abuse rundll32 to proxy script execution past
application controls without dropping a conventional executable.

Detects web server processes (such as Apache, httpd, or PHP) spawning a Unix shell (sh, bash, dash) and executing discovery commands (such as id, hostname, uname) with output redirection to proof files or embedded in callback URLs via command substitution.
Detects operator synchronization scripts (sync-all.sh, sync-memory.sh, sync-cc-users.sh) spawning SSH, rsync, or scp commands targeting AI-named jump-server accounts (claude, grok, gemini, glm).
Detects web or FTP server parent processes (such as apache2, httpd, nginx, php-fpm, or proftpd) spawning shell or utility processes (such as bash, sh, python, nc, curl, wget), which is consistent with webshell execution or post-exploitation activities.
Detects command output staged in a temporary file (/tmp/nx_cmd.txt) by a Unix shell spawned from ExifTool or Perl, typically resulting from Gotenberg CVE-2026-42589 exploitation, or detects the specific staging filename behavior independently.
Detects a web browser spawning a script interpreter or dual-use
LOLBin, the execution hand-off typical of an AI-drafted phishing lure where the
victim clicks a link/attachment and content is immediately executed by
PowerShell, cmd, mshta, wscript or cscript. Legitimate browsers almost never
spawn these interpreters as direct children, making this a high-fidelity signal
of a browser-to-interpreter phishing chain as described for AI-assisted
cybercrime activity.

Detects the creation of scheduled tasks using schtasks.exe or PowerShell that execute SysMon.py from the non-standard C:\Windows\SystemHealth\Update\ directory, or the corresponding scheduled task creation events.
This analytic detects outbound network connections from a Python process running from suspicious or non-standard directories to social media related domains.
It leverages Sysmon Event ID 3 to surface this anomalous behavior.
Legitimate Python applications rarely originate from paths such as "C:\Users\Public\", Windows font or debug folders, or the Recycle Bin, making direct outbound calls to social media infrastructure from these locations a strong indicator of compromise.
For example the Braodo Stealer, a Python-based credential-harvesting malware, abuses authenticated browser sessions to query the Meta Graph API and enumerate the victim's Facebook and Meta advertising infrastructure.

Detects suspicious command execution activities using Azure RunCommand, Custom Script Extension, or Azure Connected Machine Agent combined with potentially malicious command arguments or tools such as PowerShell encoded commands, 'IEX', download strings, certutil, whoami, base64, curl, or wget.
Detects a web server process (apache2, httpd, php-fpm) spawning a Unix shell (dash/sh) that executes discovery commands such as id, whoami, hostname, or find. This is the durable post-exploitation signature of the wp2shell WordPress pre-auth RCE chain (CVE-2026-63030, CVE-2026-60137), where a malicious plugin or webshell executes commands through the web stack.
Detects execution of Node.js and NPM related commands involving potential supply chain indicators, script execution, or download utilities (such as curl, wget, powershell, or eval) within command lines.
Detects a sequence of events on a Linux device where a sudo command execution is followed within 15 minutes by a Perl process executing base64 decoding commands within the same SSH session.
Detects AI coding assistants and agents (such as Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, etc.) spawning command-line interpreters (PowerShell, CMD, Node, Bun, Deno) with potential API keys, tokens, or credentials exposed in the process command line.
Detects when a web browser (such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Brave, or Opera) spawns common command interpreters, scripting engines, or Living off the Land Binaries (LOLBins) like cmd, powershell, mshta, rundll32, or certutil. This behavior is often indicative of a drive-by compromise or browser exploitation attempt.
Detects script execution (such as wscript, cscript, mshta) spawned from a shell parent process (like explorer.exe or cmd.exe) referencing browser cache files (matching f_* in browser profile directories) or copying scripts to the local Temp directory as t.vbs.
Detects shell or interpreter processes spawned as children of the
PAN-OS management web service. Exploitation of CVE-2026-0322 (authenticated RCE,
CWE-94) in the management interface results in the web server process forking
unexpected /bin/sh, curl, wget or scripting interpreter children to run
post-exploitation commands on the management plane.

Detects the creation of a Windows scheduled task with the name or command containing 'WinRTCS' correlated with WMI permanent event subscription activities or execution of the 'own_lib.ps1' watchdog script within a 1-hour window on the same device, using Microsoft Defender XDR tables.
Detects potential defense evasion activity where Windows Defender configurations are modified or disabled, followed closely within 20 minutes by a silent, quiet, or unattended software uninstallation initiated by a script interpreter or command processor on the same device.
Detects PowerShell processes spawned via shortcut files (lnk) using suspicious command-line parameters that subsequently create both a text file and a Discord-named executable on the same device within a 10-minute window.
Detects execution of Node.js and NPM related commands involving potential supply chain indicators, script execution, or download utilities (such as curl, wget, powershell, or eval) within command lines.
