Detects potential Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) fatigue or push bombing attacks against Azure Active Directory (Entra ID) accounts by identifying a high volume of MFA failures followed by suspicious or fraudulent report actions, or successful authentications shortly after repeated failures.
Flags service principal sign-ins by the ConnectWise/SkyKick app IDs from a public address or a Python/curl client. Per Huntress, the vendor apps normally egress from Azure private IPv6 (fd...) and call Graph with the kiota-dotnet SDK. Both conditions together are the strongest signal. This survives IP rotation. Baseline your tenant first, since a legitimate public egress would show here.
Detects Microsoft 365 activity (Exchange and SharePoint) initiated by known compromised service principal UUIDs associated with the ConnectWise supply-chain attack.
Detects deletion or modification of Azure backup items, vaults, recovery points, VM snapshots, or soft-delete configurations within AzureActivity logs, which may indicate an adversary attempting to inhibit system recovery or cover tracks.
Detects sign-in events to Entra ID via service principals where the application is marked as external and enabled, and the user agent string indicates the use of a Python client.
Detects a potential password spraying attack characterized by multiple authentication failures across numerous users from a single IP address, followed by a successful sign-in from that same IP, culminating in a privileged role or credential change performed by the compromised account.
Detects password spraying activity against Azure Active Directory / Microsoft 365 services where a single source IP attempts to authenticate against numerous distinct user accounts with low attempt counts per account and sustained over time, while excluding successful authentication IPs.
Detects high-volume Microsoft Graph API activity using attacker-associated user agents, such as python-requests, curl, or httpx, which may indicate automated token sweeping or data collection associated with supply-chain attacks.
Detects five or more Entra ID device registrations by a single account where device names match microsoft-* or WINDOWS-* patterns, occurring shortly after a device code flow sign-in by the same account. This behavior is indicative of device registration abuse or persistent access attempts.
Detects a sequence of events where an account performs a device code flow sign-in, registers or joins a device, and accesses a high volume of files in SharePoint or OneDrive within a 24-hour window. This pattern is commonly associated with adversary techniques abusing device code flows for initial access and registering managed/compromised devices to access sensitive corporate data.
This detection uses azureactivity logs (Administrative category) to identify the deletion of an Azure AD Hybrid health AD FS service instance in a tenant.
A threat actor can create a new AD Health ADFS service and create a fake server to spoof AD FS signing logs.
The health AD FS service can then be deleted after it is not longer needed via HTTP requests to Azure.

Browser sign-ins and MFA prompts with medium or high sign-in risk from devices that have no Entra device identity and are not managed or compliant. Hunting query, not an alert.
Detects suspicious command execution activities using Azure RunCommand, Custom Script Extension, or Azure Connected Machine Agent combined with potentially malicious command arguments or tools such as PowerShell encoded commands, 'IEX', download strings, certutil, whoami, base64, curl, or wget.
Detects the creation of application-specific passwords followed by their initial use from unknown or new IP addresses using legacy authentication clients, which may indicate account compromise or persistence establishment.
Detects a potential app-only tenant-takeover sequence associated with Storm-3119 (YAM Store), where a single service principal performs an administrative password reset, a license assignment, and a privileged role grant within a one-hour window.
Detects a high volume of Azure Key Vault secret reads or key decryption operations performed by a single caller identity from multiple source IP addresses within a one-hour window, which may indicate credential harvesting or unauthorized access.
Detects non-interactive service principal sign-ins originating from an IP address and location never seen for that specific principal over a prior 30-day baseline period, approximating potential misuse of stolen cloud credentials exposed via environment variables.
Correlates a device code flow sign-in event with bulk file downloads from SharePoint or OneDrive by the same user account within a 1-hour window. This behavior can indicate potential account compromise or misuse where an adversary uses device code phishing to authenticate and subsequently exfiltrate sensitive files.
Detects Azure AD service principal sign-ins utilizing suspicious scripting-related user agents such as curl, python-requests, Wget, or Postman, which may indicate automated scripting, custom tooling, or potential abuse of cloud service accounts.
Detects new client secrets or certificates added to any service principal in Azure AD, specifically identifying activities linked to the ConnectWise supply-chain attack or suspicious user agents.
This rule queries the ExposureGraphNodes table to identify and summarize assets that are configured as internet-facing or exposed to the internet.
