Detects DNS tunnelling, where data is encoded into queries and answers against a
domain the attacker controls. TXT records carry the most payload per query, so a
high volume of TXT lookups beneath one parent domain is the characteristic shape.
Tunnelling is slow, which means it is usually evidence of a long-running compromise
rather than a recent one.
Onboarding: INFOBLOX is ingested via Syslog (CEF) (Bloo extractor 155).
Integration guide: https://bloo.io/docs/hypercloud/syslog-connector
BQL (Bloo Query Language):
stream=dns where sourcename='INFOBLOX' and action='DNS_QUERIED'
and lower(recordtype) = 'txt'
| duration 1h
| groupby srcip
| select srcip, count(*) as cnt
| having cnt > 100

Detects retrieval of a privileged credential from the PAM360 vault outside normal
working hours. Credential checkout is the moment privileged access actually begins,
and an out-of-hours retrieval with no corresponding change ticket is the earliest
reliable indicator of vault misuse.
Tune the window to the customer's working pattern before deployment; a global estate
will need per-region hours rather than a single range.
Onboarding: PAM360 is ingested via Syslog (Bloo extractor 879).

Detects a DHCP-driven DNS update for a hostname not present in the asset inventory.
Dynamic DNS registration lets a device choose the name under which it is reachable,
and an attacker can use that to impersonate a service or make a rogue host appear
legitimate to anything resolving by name.
Onboarding: WIN-DHCP is ingested via Syslog (Bloo extractor 79).

Detects process execution reported by a Smokescreen decoy. A decoy runs no business
workload, so any process beyond the platform's own agent indicates an intruder has
reached the asset and is executing code on it.
Capture the command line in full: on a decoy it is uncontaminated by legitimate
activity and gives a clean view of attacker tooling and intent.

Detects an endpoint repeatedly failing compliance evaluation. Persistent failure
means either a device nobody is maintaining, or one where a control is being actively
disabled and re-detected — security software stopped, patches removed, agent
tampered with.
Onboarding: FORESCOUT is ingested via Syslog (CEF) (Bloo extractor 247).

Detects one MAC address obtaining an unusual number of distinct leases. Legitimate
devices hold a lease and renew it. Rapid cycling suggests either MAC spoofing or a
device deliberately churning addresses to frustrate tracking and evade controls bound
to an IP.

Detects a rise in dropped or suppressed mail. Transport rules that silently discard
messages can be used to hide security alerts, suppress notifications of account
changes, or conceal an ongoing compromise from the people who would otherwise notice
it.
Mail that never arrives generates no complaint for some time, which is precisely why
this is worth watching.
Onboarding: MS-EXCHANGE is ingested via Syslog (Bloo extractor 142).

Detects access to files hosted on a decoy share. Decoy shares carry inviting names and
plausible content but hold nothing real and are linked from nowhere, so a file open is
deliberate discovery rather than a user stumbling into the wrong folder.
Which file was opened is itself intelligence: it indicates what the intruder is
looking for, and that shapes where you look next in the real estate.

Detects an endpoint flipping between compliant and non-compliant repeatedly in a
short period. Stable devices stay in one state. Rapid oscillation suggests something
is being disabled and restored — a security agent stopped and restarted, or posture
data being manipulated to satisfy the check only when it is being observed.
